For 50 years, Richard and Helen LeClair operated cottages on the property, with the same guests returning year after year. In 2006, the family removed the cottages and began construction of 7 condominium units on the same beach property. The condos are very popular year-round for couples, families with children and small and large groups including reunions and weddings.
In the 1800's, the LeClair family emigrated from Quebec to Jacksonport, Wisconsin, on the shores of Lake Michigan. Three generations of LeClairs were commercial fishermen. After serving in World War II, brothers Richard and Joe LeClair each purchased beach property next to the LeClair Homestead, where they were born and raised. Both of the brothers and their wives established successful beach rental businesses with Joe & Melda owning LeClair Cottages and Richard & Helen owning Lakeshore Summer Homes.

Sunrise Shores is on the former property of Richard & Helen LeClair's Lake Shore Summer Homes. For 50 years, Richard & Helen owned and managed the Lake Shore Summer Homes cottages on the beach, with the same guests returning year after year. With the rising beach property taxes and Richard & Helen's retirement, the family removed the cottages and built condominium units. As always, the family aims to provide ideal accommodations in beautiful surroundings while providing a relaxing and pleasant stay for their guests. On July 17, 2009, the LeClair family lost its beloved patriarch, Richard, who passed away after a brief illness. Then, on September 8, 2009, Helen joined him after a courageous battle with cancer. Family, friends and the many summer guests will miss them but we know that they are at peace and together again. Richard and Helen's kindness, sincerity, generosity and welcoming spirits will always remain with us and with the many guests who continue to visit Jacksonport.
