In the 1800's, the LeClair family emigrated from Quebec to Jacksonport, Wisconsin, on the shores of Lake Michigan.  Three generations of LeClairs were commercial fishermen.  After serving in World War II, Richard and Joe each purchased beach property next to the LeClair Homestead, where they were born and raised.  Both of the brothers and wives established successful beach rental businesses.

Sunrise Shores is on the former property of Richard & Helen LeClair's Lake Shore Summer Homes.  For 50 years, Richard & Helen owned and managed the Lake Shore Summer Homes cottages on the beach, with the same guests returning year after year.  With the rising beach property taxes and Richard & Helen's retirement, the family removed the cottages and built 6 condominium units.  Their oldest son, Paul, is the builder of all of the properties listed on this site.  As always, the family aims to provide ideal accommodations in beautfiful surroundings while providing a relaxing and pleasant stay for their guests.  On July 17, 2009, we lost our beloved patriarch, Richard, who passed away after a brief illness.  Then, on September 8, 2009, Helen joined him after a courageous battle with cancer.  Family, friends and the many summer guests will miss them but we know that they are at peace and together again.  Richard and Helen's kindness, sincerity, generosity and welcoming spirits will always remain with us.  To read about Richard & Helen's life, you can put  in a search for "LeClair" at the following site:

All eight of Richard and Helen's children grew up playing on the beach almost daily in the summer.           
                              


Today, all family members play a role in the construction, management and upkeep of the properties.
